The synthpop scene is alive and kicking, and Ninthwave Records brings us another sampler. The newest sampler has a lot of well-know synthpop artists such as Freezepop, Empire State Human, Fr/action, Soviet, Spray, Cosmicity and many others. Heaven 17 starts the CD with a more disco sound within the song. It had a good club feel, and good melodies. It was a decent song, nothing that really was like wow, that is a really great song. Moulin Noir, sort of had a Kraftwerk meets Devo sound. The vocals had higher pitches at times, and the beats were repetitive, and finally there was a shift in the music, with some added piano. After the music changes I got more into the song, was good. Fr/action had some nice club beats, and really got the CD moving, with the Guardian ( the club mix) I like the effects on the vocals, almost robotic. I also like the tone of the vocals with the really smooth synthpop beats. One song that is really out there is by Turd Ferguson, called "Adam Cumming". The lyrics were about this gay Alan Cumming, at the club, not a pub. It was so funny to listen too. The lyrics were hysterical. "He likes butt sex". The music was really good too, with great club beats, and catchy melodies. It just added to the weirdness to this collection. "Tracy Gold", is also now a song, you know Tracy Gold from Growing Pains. Here is another really funny song, it is kind of creepy to think someone would write a song about her and her hair etc, but that is what Freezepop did. Astrohill, a female fronted band, or I should say Astrohill is a single person, added "Stranded in Manchester", about calling collect and getting back to London. This song had really good synth sounds, and was not as bubble poppy as some songs can be. I thought Masq, had the closest vocal sound to Gary Numan, and had the heaviest sounding song with "The Machines. Macondos, "It couldn't be Further from my Mind", had a good up beat tempo, and probably one of their better songs that I have heard Well, there is a lot more to listen too, I would also like to mention, "Passion Planet, Cosmicity Soviet, Exhibtion, NukleoN also had really good tracks, and were my favorite tracks, and now you should listen and see why. It took a little bit longer for me to really get into this CD, but at the end it was not to bad.
