Artist: Trans Atlantic Crush
CD Title: Remember
When I first listened to the latest album by Trans Atlantic Crush, Remember, I was very impressed. I kept saying to myself, I am so glad I introduced to this band. The second thing I kept saying to myself, what took so long! The third thing, I kept saying to myself about this band was, I love the retro 80’s synthpop sound! So, if you can’t tell, I am very excited about this release from Trans Atlantic Crush. The band is an American Synthpop act from Boise, ID, that seems to have many European influences such as great like Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, and Erasure etc. This album is laced with many melodies that are just infectious to the ear. Sometimes, it was hard to go to the next track, because I wanted to hear the current track I was listening to over and over again.
Speaking of songs that I want to listen to on repeat would be the track called “Over and Over ”. I love the lyrics to this song, as they really told a story about a relationship that is over, really over and don’t bother coming around. This was one of my favorites. It started off slow and I was unsure where it was going, but wow… this song kicks in to a more mid-tempo track and it soars. It is just beautiful for a song about a failed relationship. The vocals are really awesome and I really like the singer’s vocals a lot. The music and vocals throughout the album are tight. I found myself singing right along with many of the songs, like, “I will forgive the things you said, mmm hmm, I have been tempered by the voices in my head”. I just love it!
The album offers a hint of a dark pop sound in songs such as the catchy, “I Will Forget You” and “We Are Vampires”, along with a mix of slow, mid-tempo and more danceable tracks. This is what synthpop is all about folks. One of my favorite ballads is “Shine”. After listening to “Shine”, I was left in awe. What a beautiful inspirational song. It really made me think about all the people in my life and how I just want to be with them and that is what is important. This was an album stopper, where I was like wow… that is incredible song writing. Other standout tracks were the up tempo, “Waiting on a Girl”, “Try”, which could be another ballad, “Touched”, which shows once again a romantic side of the band, and the fun danceable tracks with “You Want a Friend” and “Radio Summer” This is a solid synthpop album with strong choruses with a modern twist.
