"A Million Thoughts And They're All About You" is the 4th album from Swedish "ElectroPunk" band Alice In Videoland, following up on their 2008 release "She's A Machine". The neon coloring on the front cover of the album is as good an indication of what to expect as any description or marketing blurb you could read.

The tracks on this album leap from the speakers, with a dazzling array of bright synths, buzzing guitars and saccharine vocals.

Alice In Videoland describe themselves as an "ElectroPunk band", but there is definitely more of the Electro than Punk, with well constructed pop songs and catchy choruses the order of the day.

There is seemingly little evidence of the "Punk" aspect other than the occasional well spat lyric from lead vocalist Toril Lindqvist, such as on the raunchy anthem "Bender", where Toril tells you in no uncertain terms what she wants you to do.

However despite these elements, there persists a strong feeling that this album could sit happily alongside the mainstream releases of Lady Ga Ga and Goldfrapp, and the cover of Neneh Cherry's "Buffalo Stance" reinforces the confusion as to where this band is ultimately being marketed.

Alice In Videoland are in danger of falling beneath two stools, with their sugary Electropop anthems being perhaps too shiny and glittery for the Industrial and Synthpop communities, but simultaneously being a little too raunchy, and edgy for the mainstream audiences.

That said, there is a lot to like about this release, and almost every track will tempt a smile and have your head nodding, even if you have trouble memorizing individual tracks after an initial listen.

Ultimately, the production is vibrant, and the bass lines are infectious to the point where it seems a shame that Alice In Videoland aren't battling it out with the pop princesses in the mainstream charts, as they have a lot to offer and show that good pop music can exist outside of manufactured bands and contracted songwriters.

If you enjoy honest, fun pop music then you will love this album, as "A Million Thoughts And They're All About You" throws out more hooks than an entire riverbank of fisherman, so land yourself a copy now.
