Artist: Empire State Human
Title: Popularity?
Label: Ninthwave Records
Empire State Human members are Aidan Casserly, Seán Barron, Lar Kiernan and Warren Kiernan. Their album “Popularity?” is a compilation of previous albums--- featuring 17 tracks of electro-fab, pop-synth excitement, dreamy ballads succumbed to haunting melodies, and songs which bounce like tiny dots of neon lights and smooth fluorescent beams shooting onto a silver painted dance floor---songs that have me totally psyched to be a gal of the 80s music revolution and a big, big fan of Empire State Human’s music.
Fans of Pet Shop Boys, Human League, Flock of Seagulls and likewise, will find that Empire State Human is like a great pair of leg warmers, an off the shoulder sweatshirt and frosted hair poofed out with a pint of hairspray. It’s fun, upbeat, and brings happiness to me when listening. I love this style of music, and always will. So thank you Empire State Human for making me happy with the music you create.
“Chase The Ace”, “Devil In The Detail”, “Liquid Blue”, “Little Alfie”, “Leap Of Faith”, “Swinging Pendulums”, “Fallout”, “Vegas Years” and “Wait Until The Night” are songs that attracted me most, in regard to lyrics, music and vocals---awesome all the way through!
