Haujobb's New World March was released in November 2011, and it has been one of those albums that has stayed in heavy rotation not only on my radio shows but also in my personal playlists. So, it is no surprise that the new single "Let's Drop Bomb's" was one of my more anticipated releases for 2012.

“Let's Drop Bombs” is the 2nd single off New World March. In comparison to the very simplistic yet raw first single, "Dead Market", "Let's Drop Bombs" is its spiritual dark image, both musically and lyrically. "Dead Market" started off with hard beats and quickly built up momentum by adding more percussion and being really light on the synthesizers. "Lets Drop Bombs" starts off softly with piano, slowly introducing the synthesizers and soundscapes before a steady dance beat finally joins the smoothly running procession. Everything sounds clean and relaxing until the chorus rises up filling the air with is muted roars. Guitars and siren-like synth loops break through to the front occasionally but roll back into the song while Daniel Myers delivers filtered whispering vocals. Everything about this track is cold, calm, and calculated with hints of explosive rage just under its surface. And while “Dead Market” was about creation and taking control (maybe the music video influenced my interpretation), “Let's Drop Bombs” calmly advocates just destroying everything to clear the slate, as a quick alternative to when life spirals out of control. You can try to clean up the mess with a lot of complicated solutions that don't make waves, or “just drop a bomb instead.”

The single also includes a B-Side, “The Ultimate Trap”, which starts off with a slow build-up like the title track, but then jumps into some crisp hard beats with lots of distorted synthesizers, robotic vocals, and a general sense of chaos throwing off that opening sense of calm. The rest of this 10 track single is filled with remixes. Not of "Let's Drop Bombs" but of other tracks from New World March. The Horrorist remixes “Membrane” into a perfect club track. Cute Heels delivers a “Little World” that does indeed make the song sound cute (in twisted way), and we get some really unique takes on “New World March” and “Machine Drum” as well. However this plethora of other tracks is my one complaint about this single.

There are only 2 versions of “Let's Drop Bombs”. Previous singles like Penetration or Dead Market featured 6 or 7 remixes of the featured song and usually one b-side and a remix of another track. And even though it was predominantly one song that you were listening to the whole time, each remix presented an entirely new reality. One dancey. Another complete noize. And another just completely bizarre and indescribable. So once the entire single has played through, the effect is that you have completely digested the featured song in its entirety. Sadly, Let's Drop Bombs doesn't leave me with that sensation. There is only a radio edit and extended edit of the title track. This came off to me more as a remix album and less of a Haujobb single.

This is just a minor complaint and there is a lot about this single to love. The club-friendly remixes, the awesome title track, and the price of downloading it. Which came out to the affordable cost of free. As a thank you to their fans, Haujobb has made Let's Drop Bombs free to download via their Bandcamp page. Despite the lack of remixes for "Let's Drop Bombs", this single is a great way showcase the full-length album it came from. It is the polar opposite of Dead Market, musically and lyrically, and it comes packed with lots of fun remixes that give us new takes on some of the other tracks from New World March.
