Buffalo, New York offers more than deadly winters.  Third Realm's latest album is a solid dose of synth-stomp.  Vocalist Melanie Beitel is the newest member, joining Mike Reiner, Tony Agro and founder Nathan Reiner.  The trends throughout the twelve tracks are driving beats, sociopolitical commentary and decent singing.  There *is* some variety with influences including NIN, Skinny Puppy and a dash of Celldweller.

"Lies of the Nation" is a call to arms with a great dance beat if you spike your Red Bull with some meth.  "Biohacker" is more laid back in a Front Line Assembly style.  "Delusional Ecstacy" harkens to Bauhaus, and the title track addresses the growing corporatocracy of the United States.  Underground music is naturally anti-authority, but it's still good to compare the music with newspaper headlines.

The band has fun with a straightforward cover of Gerard McMann's "Cry Little Sister", from that movie about Boys who get Lost.  "Pallor Mortis" has the coolest title and the most goth appeal on the album.  Third Realm gets attitude points for ending a CD with "The Death of Hope" that basically DARES you to smile at anyone or walk in sunshine for the rest of the week.

With New World Order, Third Realm puts enough flavor in the basics to satisfy most EBM/industrial tastes.
