I don’t really know how to classify this. I like all the electronic elements, with the scream vocals. However, I can hear some of those elements in the vocal performance. I am of the belief that nothing should come between a vocalist’s mouth and the mic. What I mean by that is that if you are adding vocal elements digitally, then either you don’t perform live, or you have some sort of equipment changing your voice. I am fine with this if it’s a background vocalist or just on the hook or something, but not on a constant basis. Attack Attack! is cool with me. They use auto tune in their music, along with a few other metal acts and almost EVERY pop and hip-hop act. I don’t mind vocal alteration in bits for effect, like a background vocalist auto tuning for the chorus, that’s fine by me. Almost all the vocals sound digitally enhanced to me though. Not necessarily with auto tuning, but digital alteration.

Overall, I like the record. I had to get past the vocal thing, but once I did I enjoyed the industrial feel of this album. They seem to make it the focus in some songs, but not all. I like the diversity! I think I heard record scratching… or something like it… love it. This is a good album. Due to personal bias, it took some time for me to get over the vocal changes, but once I did, I really enjoyed it. This isn’t just for industrial metal fans, the industrial element isn’t overbearing at all. As I said before, they focus on it in some of the songs, but not all. It has a traditional metal base, with industrial highlights. It makes for a fun and groovy sound in some of the tracks. Those are the tracks I prefer.

The traditional metal base is very solid. Good riffs and a fast kick drum. What else could a metal head want? I would definitely recommend this album. If I had to sum the entire review up in a single sentence this would be it: They’re like Static-X… but good!
