Artist: Various Artist CD Title: Electronic Saviors: Industrial Music to Cure Cancer Label: Distortion Productions/Metropolis Records Reviewer: Robert Eaton Date: 3-31-10
In the age of insincere celebrities tripping over themselves putting their name to all sorts of charitable organizations, “Electronic Saviors: Industrial Music to Cure Cancer” is legitimate and refreshing. The idea to do the compilation came after Jim Semonik was diagnosed, treated and recovering from cancer. The compilation includes 3 CD’s with a fourth disk that is downloaded. Semonik, a DJ, promoter and longtime proponent of the music scene in Pittsburgh and beyond has found not just a good cause, but assembled a superior compilation. The compilation features an impressive roster, bands from The Gothsicles, Ego Likeness, Terrorfakt, Combichrist and many many more. In with the well-known acts are many worthy emerging acts. The album varies from ambient to noise. It’s really hard to talk about this compilation because the sheer number and variety of bands it contains. To say the least, this is an expansive and important collection of dark electronic music. The quality of the music found here is all superb, there really isn’t any filler here. Even if it was not for a good cause there’s an impressive collection of music here. All of the proceeds from the very reasonably priced 4 CD set will directly benefit the Cancer Recovery Foundation of America in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. https://www.metropolis-mailorder.com/product.php?prodnum=MET+630 |
