Now I can see why I have never had an interest in Minnesota. Ok, I totally respect the ethics behind this series of compilations. Great great things.....But.... Musically, this is one of the worst compilations I have ever heard. Twin Cities Electropunk? I think not. More like MTV friendly Electro wuss rock rip-offs. This sounds like a new generation of boring Punk-O-Rama wanna-be's, throwing a little synth-dance-pop into the mix for an even bigger cliché. I must say that there are 2 AWESOME songs on this release. Track # 7 is by an act called "One Two Three Dead" and the song is a digital hardcore/gabber punk ditty called "My First Communion". Great stuff, I want to hear more from them.......Track # 16 is by "Rambidine" and it is a smooth electronica instrumental called "Shamblestown".....Why couldn’t the whole album be up with those two songs standards? My conclusion: Quality, not quantity....These guys are on the right track, but they should cut out all the lame attempts to sound commercial, nobody in real underground scenes will take this seriously....I know I didn’t. I recommend: Getting this CD just to compare it to some outstanding Electro Punk acts like Yatagarasu, Les Trucs, Realicide, Xrin Arms, for starters. |
