A Purging Good Time    4 Stars

Punk, Metal, Industrial and Electronica. Four little words that creep up on you when you drop this CD in from these crazy cats from the United Kingdom, “Flesh Eating Foundation”. The U.K. has brought us so many great bands throughout history and I see no reason why they should stop now. In 1999, F.E.F. threw their first demos at the world and since, have put forth a hand full of E.P.s along with full length limited features that came with some really cool goodies. Their 1996 self released “White Noise Christmas” was limited to only 10 copies in personalized blood-splattered cards and their newest release “Purging” is limited to 300 copies and comes with a zombie. That’s right, a zombie. How cool is that? They have also had songs on a hand full of cover CD’s on many different magazines like “Insomnia Mag”, “Unscene Mag” and “Zero Tolerance”.

   “Purging” has a very harsh quality to it like a lot of the newer industrial bands seem to have except these guys add other elements that really make them stand out. The first track’ “Victims”, starts out with a very nice Punk-like feel and immediately kicks a hard beat that can really get you going and your heart pumping. You can tell right off the rip what kind of band this is and what its going to make you feel like. Out of coffee? That’s alright. Grab this disk and drop it in. You’re up now, son. You can trust that. By the time you get to the next track, “Godless”, you’re totally awake and ready to face the day with an attitude and a chip on your shoulder. Don’t you just love it? I especially like this track and all the remixes. Real cool. The fifth track, “Septic” has a nice industrial feel to it. Harshy vocal style and a bit of a chanty touch and the haunting synth brings you down to a dark place where the band lives and breathes. The dark feel stands out very well on the track,” You Made Me Suffer”. The feedback creeping up and a slow pound and then, out of nowhere, AHAHAH!!! Then back to the creepy feedback. Very cool. Mamma is going to hate you.
