My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult's biggest hits have always been darker, edgier club tracks like "Daisy Chain 4 Satan" and "Days Of Swine And Roses," but anyone's who's ever gotten down to "Disko Fleshpot" or, well, anything off of Hit And Run Holiday knows there's another side to the band. Gay, Black And Married merely takes the '70s influences hinted at in their other material to its logical extreme, resulting in an album that's almost purely disco. As big a turn-off as that might be to industrial purists, it's not necessarily a bad thing, and the trademark Thrill Kill Kult sleaziness is still in evidence on tracks like "Magic Boy, Magic Girl," with its throbbing bass guitar and comedic samples, and the vintage porn-inspired "Fhantasi Luv'r." There are also plenty of retro techno influences; "Sci-Fi Affair," in particular, is a pretty even blend of '70s disco and '80s house. While this isn't technically new material (it's a "lost" album that the band finally got around to putting out), it's an interesting diversion that should keep diehard Kultists sated until the release of a new album, and while the decadence is definitely a bit more subtle here than on previous efforts, the sex, drugs and disco that this album evokes are, after all, pretty much in keeping with the Thrill Kill Kult's favorite things.
