Less than a year after their last album, KMFDM are back with this new EP, featuring plenty of remixes as well as a few surprises. Band founder Sascha Konietzko shows up with a couple of remixes of his own: a heavier "Kaptn's Crunch" mix of "Free Your Hate" and a "Spezial K" mix of "Hau Ruck" that throws some chopped up orchestral samples in for flavor. Steve White offers alternate mixes of "Professional Killer" and "WWIII." There's also an unexpected guest appearance from Blag Dahlia of The Dwarves, who contributes a surprisingly ominous mix of "Ready To Blow" that's simmering with barely-repressed violence. It's the "J. Hogstorm and The Rain City Swingin' Samples Mix" of "Mini Mini Mini," however, that's the most shocking thing on this EP. Actually created by current KMFDM guitarist Jules Hodgson, it turns the band''s traditional industrial rock sound on its ear, replacing it with vintage swing music horns and rockabilly guitar solos. For classic-style KMFDM, on the other hand, there's an industrial metal take on DAF's EBM classic "Der Mussolini" that's perfectly suited to the band's mix of aggression and irreverence. A perfect companion to last year's Hau Ruck album, Ruck Zuck is a must-have for KMFDM fans, and continues the band's tradition of catchy but offbeat industrial rock.
