Bleeding Through- The Truth

Elevating the current trend of metal/hardcore crossover to a new level of musicianship, Bleeding Through's latest album is their best yet, adding more melodic punk elements without sacrificing any of their signature aggression. "Kill To Believe" and "Dearly Demented," for example, are like roundhouse kicks to the chest, but just in time to let you catch your breath, they launch into soaring scream-along choruses. "Line In The Sand" takes the melodic elements even farther with an actual ballad that manages to feel sincere instead of hackneyed. That said, there's still plenty on display here for fans of brutality. Opening track "For Love And Failing" is as heavy as anything the band's ever recorded, as is the raw and punishing "Hollywood Prison." As always, the presence of keyboards adds additional musical depth, with the symphonic strings of "Love In Slow Motion" contrasting especially well will the up-tempo hardcore vocal delivery, and soaring electronics on the bridge add pathos to the driving rage of "Tragedy Of Empty Streets." With just enough catchy moments to bring new fans into the fold, The Truth is a magnum opus of modern, progressive hardcore.
