At times, a good stoner rock album shows us that a mighty riff and some good drums are not something from a long lorn past. The Cave & The Sunlight by Pet The Preacher (from Denmark) gives us the best elements of blues rock and stoner rock on their melancholic album.
Yes, the main theme on The Cave & The Sunlight is rocking out – but it's not brainless fun-filled rocking. There's a sour edge to the music Pet The Preacher make, and that makes it so much more real.
The opening track “The Cave” sets the tone for the album: yes, there will be rock, but there will also be introspection. And this combination makes The Cave & The Sunlight one of the stronger efforts in the stoner genre that I've heard this year.
You don't need to be a stoner fan to like The Cave & The Sunlight by Pet The Preacher. Their dark and dreamy side will appeal to post-rock fans as well.
