Vileborn have not released a record yet, but are working hard on putting themselves out in the scene. Their music is up for listening on ReverbNation.
Vileborn describe themselves as follows:
“Five warriors of the eternal stone rode their steeds to the edge of the great volcano. Their strength was tested against many trials and beasts. When the tribulations were over, they decided to form the greatest band the world had ever seen... This...is their story.
Sounds Like: System of a Down, White Zombie, Lamb-of-god, Drowing Pool, Marilyn Manson.
Certainly, Vileborn sound very much like the nu-metal bands from the 2000s, albeit more aggressive and with more use of extreme vocals. More than anything. Vileborn sound very American. They clearly tap from earlier big American metal bands.
At the moment, Vileborn have 4 songs recorded that are available on ReverbNation. The rawest, most thrash-metal like track is “Concrete Cross”. Here the tribute to the Bay Area thrash is lurking in the shadows.
“Terminal” shows us the typical nu-metal sound, although spiked with extreme vocals. This approach by times comes close to the recent work of In Flames, who have incorporated metalcore into their melodic death metal.
One of the best features of Vileborn are their galloping riffs, that hint a bit to the 80s and Slayer. This energy infuses their sometimes more pop-oriented (I hear Evanescence) approach and brings the metal back into their music.
With the limited amount of material that Vileborn have available, we can see that they combine and borrow from a wide array of (American) metal bands. I'm curious to see what the future will bring for these guys.
Check them out on ReverbNation.
