The Floating World, the second album by The Senseless has been released more than 1,5 years ago. The Senseless is a project of Sam Bean, (known from The Berzerker and Mithras), and The Floating World took 4 agonizing years to finish.

Somewhere on the edge of grindcore, death metal and thrash metal, with influences of virtually everything from punk to gabber, the music on The Floating World is best described as extreme metal. Overall: very fast and extreme is the direction of the album. It's an attack on all your senses and your sensibility, and when you close your eyes and let the music take over, it is so fast that you could almost confuse it with binaural beats massaging your brain.

With 12 tracks, and only 39 minutes in total length, The Floating World is packed with short, in-your-face balls of energy. Sometimes, however, these tracks feel less like an elaborate recording and more like an idea and a few riffs shot in the air.

Unlike most extreme metal bands, The Senseless seem to be using vocals borrowed from the punk scene. The guitar solos are super fast, yet also super short and they sound as mean as the shouted vocals, laced with screams and death grunts.

The Floating World is shock-therapy. It is foul-mouthed, heavier than heavy metal in its most extreme form. Of the 12 tracks on the album, 3 tracks stand out: “Amazing Pain”, which throws a classic guitar solo in its mix, and then starts dropping down chords, while still holding together the song, “Death To Metal”, which sounds first as if we are all together merrily in a pub, but then starts blasting some throat-slashing heaviness, and “Let Me Sleep”, which sounds more like a metal-core track, and the riff sounds vaguely familiar.
