"Blade of Triumph" is the fourth full-length release from Denmark's Iron Fire and it's not half bad. Iron Fire was formed back in 1995 by vocalist Martin Steene and this is their second release on the Austrian label, Napalm Records. Steene is the last remaining original member having replaced the rest of the band after their lackluster release "On the Edge" in 2001 got them kicked off of the Sanctuary Records label. Through his thick accent and strong voice, Steene weaves together tales of knights, Camelot, dragons and battles in typical power metal fashion. Sticking with the genre's tradition, Iron Fire has Kirk Backarach and J.J. trading solos and creating an epic feel with their twin guitar work. While Kirk also plays keyboards on the album, the strong rhythm section is made up of Martin Lund on bass and Jens B. on drums. The album is standard fare for power metal and there isn't a whole lot on "Blade of Triumph" that really got my attention. It was a good album, but nothing groundbreaking or really memorable. If you like Hammerfall, Gamma Ray and similar bands then "Blade of Triumph" is an album you might want to check out.
