Angels of Liberty are a brand-new gothic rock band – yet they sound as though they weathered through the 90s and the heydays of the goth subculture. With Pinnacle of the Draco this British band has released a record that brings the old-school gothic feel right at you.

The goal of Angels of Liberty is to create gothic rock music that brings back the best of the 80s and 90s goth. The founding members met at Whithby Goth Weekend and decided it was time to bring some old-school goth back in these days of EBM and industrial.

Pinnacle of the Draco brings us 16 tracks, and a total playing time of 69 minutes – that's about an hour and a quarter of top-quality gothic rock.

Hovering between the dark gloomy gothic rock sound from the 80s and the more synth-infused work from the 90s, Angels of Liberty are about as stereotypical goth as can be. Even though full of clichés and traditional goth elements, the music on Pinnacle of the Draco swings and grooves.

Some of the best tracks on the album are “Kukulkan”, infused in Eastern mysticism and clouds of smoke, “Talk About Nothing” with its clear wink to The Sisters of Mercy, “Dead Tormented” with its funny lyrics and Type O Negative references and “Mars & Minerva”, a dark and under-cooled track.

Pinnacle of the Draco is classic gothic rock of the very best quality. Check out a track from Angels of Libery below, and then try to find a copy of this instant classic album (hiint: to add to their obscure cult-feel, Angels of Liberty keep distribution of their records for the happy few).
