If Rammstein relaxed and did a Ramones tribute, it might sound like "Warten auf Raketen" ("Waiting on Missiles"). Fliehende Sturme does a good job reminding us that German music isn't strictly Wagnerian opera or lockstep industrial. The album fits with late 80's/early 90's gothic punk. Half the songs are in A-minor; since I don't speak German, that causes some tracks to run together a bit. Still, that's on ME for not knowing the language.

Andreas Lohr's vocals are better than average for punk. He doesn't push too hard and he upholds the dark tone of the songs. Jens Halbauer and Uwe Hubatschek keep the drums and bass straightforward so Lohr's voice and guitar have plenty of room. The beats are nearly all dancefloor bait. Near the end, "Tiefe" flirts with industrial dance but you can tell the band is human.

"Warten auf Raketen" is good driving music, and a comfortable fit for punk or goth nights at the club. I recommend it for fans of Joy Division, Xmal Deutschland and Wreckage. Fliehende Sturme translates roughly (maybe very roughly) as Chasing Storms. If anyone can verify or correct that, please comment and I'll thank you for improving my German.
