Recorded at their home studio, Nikos, Pepi, and Lida have put together post-punk, gothic inspired debut called X-Live. This 2010 release marks the band’s first official release since their formation in 2004.
The Greek trio split lead vocals duties giving their songs a wider range of emotional and appeal. The lush female voices have a hint of mid 90’s female rock and the low ended male voice is reminiscent of Andrew Eldritch from Sisters of Mercy, especially when the heavy guitars come in on the first track “Dark Love.” The song “Faint” has a sound much like that of Courtney Love’s band Hole which then leads into “Electrify”, with its more ethereal female vocals. “Electrify” was even featured in a Greek movie called EKSOSTRAKISMENOS (THE EXILED) along with the more moody sounding “No Time.”
Their label, Subexistance Productions, has actually put this release up as a free download (licensed under Creative Commons) so grab it while you can. It even contains a Bonus track called “Los Angelina.”
