Omega Lithium’s new release “Dreams in Formaline” has a great sound and dark vibe. There is no pretension here folks and comparing the band to Evanescence would be to easy. It is especially nice to be able to understand the intelligible lyrics with heavy music supporting it. Growling unintelligible vocals does not make music heavy; only annoying. Thankfully, there is none of that here. “My Haunted Self”, “Snow Red” and “Dreams in Formaline” are standout tracks. The latter would be really cool accompanied with dancing girls. I cannot say how very rare it is for me to like a band who plays little to no guitar solos, but this is the case here. The production is solid, the band is solid and there seems to be potential for this band to reach a wide audience. What I like most about the lyrics is that they are externally driven. That is, that not every song revolves around “me” and ”you”, but deals with universal concepts that are larger than one‘s individual existence.I still need more guitar solos to accompany the synthesizers though.

4/5 stars
