Disembodied Voices- Demo

Disembodied Voices have plenty of attitude to spare, but they lack the technical proficiency and polish to really get their point across. Although "Day Comes Night" is a promising start, a spoken word murder story with the sort of over-the-top deadpan delivery that makes Boyd Rice so amusing, things quickly go downhill from there. Between the horror show torture story of "Different" and front woman Lee Holiday's Halloween witch vocal style, the overall impression is of a band trying so hard to be scary you can't help but pity them a little bit. The production quality is quite poor, as well, and what music can actually be heard underneath the vocals seems to consist mostly of tinny synth presets and plodding drum beats. "FFT" is a a little better, with enough of a bass drum kick to actually dance to, but it's still the best of a pretty sorry lot. If Disembodied Voices ratchet down the corny spooky bits and spend more time learning how to record their instruments, they might turn into something interesting, but this first effort is amateurish from a musical standpoint and ineffective from an aesthetic one.
