Wow. This is a mental musical warpscape. Having worked with Igor Ogogo on some compilations I released, I am familiar with his outlandish works! I was pleasantly surprised to hear this collaboration between Igor and Rod Oakes. The packaging of this album is a beautiful digi pak with black and white illustrations of guitars, fish, birds, daggers, tea pots, umbrellas, and various other odd tid bits. The CD itself is one of those that resemble a vinyl record....very cool indeed. So anyway, on to the music. Rod Oakes plays MIDI trombone, and Igor plays guitar. This is some seriously spaced out LSD induced music. Just my cup of tea. The opening track, "Lunch on the peacock" ranges from obscure electric guitar experiments, and illicit activities in a foggy alley style trombone. I am listening to this album with a cat in my lap, and I can tell by their movements, they are feeling the music in one way or another. "Rudimentary Celtic" uses a similar formula with some interesting beats and strange bird noises involved as well. At times, this album could be used as the background for some kind of horror flick. The trombone is just plain haunting. I love it! The guitar reminds me to something Zappa or Buckethead would hear in their acid soaked nightmares. The song titles are very interesting, including "Bikini Scientist", and "Jewel Encrusted Eyeball". Igor really has a thing for eyeballs; He is always posting blogs and bulletins about different eyeball topics. All in all, this a great experimental album. Check it out and hear it for yourself!
