In the aftermath of the hugely successful Implements of Hell, Suicide Commando returns with Attention Whore. The title track follows the same route as many tracks done before by the band. “Severed Head” and “Sympathy for the Devil” to name but of few, but why mess with a product that gets stronger the more times it repeats. The production value is through the roof with a slamming rhythm and grizzly lyrics that leaves your head slamming in time. The Ep's b-side track is “Evacuate”, a dark trip into the mind of madness, where sirens blare and life is crisp and crowded. It's a perfect companion piece to the title track, with a quicker beat that is perfect for the club, although lyric less “Evacuate” gives a feel of a great night out. The rest of the EP is made up of remixes of both tracks, re-evaluated by such bands as X-Rx and Nauchtmahr. The gem in the collection is a remix by Funker Vogt, who brings their own feel to “Attention Whore,” and cranks the evil up to 11 and rips you apart with a hypnotic beat. X-Rx gives us a noise style kick in the teeth and Sleetgrout hits you with a euro trance groove that reeks of Sash! The sole remix of “Evacuate” is re-produced by John Lord Fonda, who gives a sunken feeling to end the release taunting you with samples and a deep thumping bass.
This EP shows you very little to what Suicide Commando has to offer us this year, but it leaves you with a feeling that they won't be pulling any punches.
