Its been a long time since the Lords of Acid have released any new material. Despite this near decade of silence, The Lords of Acid have been busy touring, and almost every Goth/Industrial DJ in the country still keeps Voodoo-U, or Our Little Secret on hand just in case. Ever since the 90's The Lords of Acid have been that the dirty dancefloor harlot that DJs call up in the middle of a set to up the sex appeal and/or humor levels of the night. Well fans can give their local DJs a break from playing Pussy for the umpteenth time, as the 'Lords are here!!' Their latest single "Little Mighty Rabbit" heralds the return of Lords to the recording studio and a new full length album out in 2012.

Little Mighty Rabbit has the Techno-rock sound that made previous singles like "Pussy" or "The Crablouse" dancefloor favorites. The song is a tribute to that expensively complicated piece of molded plastic that has been a favorite relaxation device of many women. The song has a promotional music video that is far from coy. To be frank with you all, its almost pornography. If you go seek it out on YouTube, then you have been warned. Kudos to the band though because the video sells exactly what it's singing about. The joys of the Little Mighty Rabbit, and its "Sex Toy Geek" fans.

The single contains the title track along with 2 other tracks and several remixes of Little Mighty Rabbit. The remixes are your standard fare for any dance track single. "The Bass to Mouth" and "Suburban Secret" mixes turns LMR into a twisted chill-out piece. "Smell-O Kitty Mix" plays up on the guitar work in the song making it more of a Rock n Roll song. My one disappointment is that out of all the remixes only the Christopher Lawrence Mix pushes the song to an energy level higher than the original. The other remixes give the song a disco twist, dub treatment, or even an industrial stomp like on the "Radical G Mix", which sounds like it would go great with a Combichrist song. Admittedly the Christopher Lawrence mix devolves into every stereotypical progressive house track/remix that's been produced (no vocals and lots of synth hooks), but it does make the listener want to dance harder.

The other tracks "Sole Sucker" and "Drowning in Ecstasy" sound like they would be at home on Voodoo-U and like the title track are pretty blatant anthems to the fetishes of Foot Worship and Squirting respectively. Good but not anything really memorable as far as the rest of their discography. With these tracks my one major complaint about this single comes to light. The song is very sexual, and very unapologetic. There's none of the eroticism, that early Lords of Acid songs have. Kind of like the difference between going to a burlesque event and a nudie bar. Either way you know what you're getting up on that stage, but how it is being presented is what makes it all the more fun. Shocking and well produced as Mighty Little Rabbit is, it feels more like a trip to the nudie bar and less like the satisfying tease that should have followed up a 10 years gap in the band's discography.

So in closing, Little Mighty Rabbit is good dancefloor fodder, and a rather hopeful preview of what's to come in 2012. Beyond that, its nothing memorable, and feels like its trading in its Sex-Appeal for Shock-Appeal.
