Reizstrom formed in Germany via myspace, and have been producing electronic music as a duo for some time now and have released 'Mismatch' in December 2010.
In 'Mismatch', Reizstrom combine the synth-pop sensibilities of Depeche Mode with the more contemporary beats and grooves of Rotersand, and end up somewhere in-between.
There is a strong new wave vibe to a lot of 'Mismatch', though the more aggressive and nature of their sound helps to stop them sounding like just another retro act, with some nice powerful bass lines and trance leads placing them firmly into industrial territories.
They have a very strong grasp of writing new wave style hooks, and the EP is very easy to listen to and enjoy, with each song drifting into the next one smoothly, giving 'Mismatch' a very consistent feel, and like you are enjoying a whole piece of art as opposed to several smaller pieces.
Reizstrom also have the ability to step into near EBM at times, with the kick and some tasty synth bass giving certain tracks such as 'No Vital Signs' a real lift, and this is well placed to keep the record from getting too monotonous.
They do not however ever really 'kick off', always pulling back from the brink of becoming too hard or aggressive, but their strong hooks and melodies manage to make it a fair compromise.
At the end of the day, this is a good EP, with plenty of pop driven Electro, and its available for free, so if you enjoy Depeche Mode, Rotersand or more recent Nine Inch Nails then you should definitely check it out.
7/10 - Recommended tracks "No Vital Signs" & "Warm Snow"
