The Mexican Duo behind Hocico have returned with their 7th album "Tiempos De Furia" or as my rough translating on the web tells me, "Times Of Fury".
That gives you a pretty good idea of what is coming on this album, with every track starting out of the blocks like a greyhound, with massive kicks and distorted snares assaulting your eardrums with an unrelenting furiosity that leaves you in no doubt that you have been listening to Hocico.
Now if you have heard any Hocico before, you are probably thinking "well that's true of Hocico in general right? that's their default sound?".
And you would be right.
Hocico have not deviated from the formula that has seen them rise to the top of the contemporary EBM and Aggrotech Dog-pile, meshing the same aggressive melodies as they have been doing for a long time now.
What can't be argued however, is that they do a damn fine job of it, providing a humongously bassy and ferocious collection of EBM anthems that are guaranteed to get good air play in scene clubs the world over.
Whilst there are 3 or 4 tracks where Hocico relent to some degree, these are purely for you to catch your breath before the next onslaught, and "Tiempos De Furia" is an onslaught, believe me.
If you like your Electronic music big and noisy, Hocico have once again delivered in spades, perhaps not their greatest album to date, but "Tiempos De Furia" is certainly a strong addition to the Hocico legacy, and will see them maintain their position as one of the trend-setters of Alternative Electronic music.
7/10 - Recommended Listens - "Dog Eat Dog" & "Twist The Thorn"
