Sweden. 2009. Neurobash is cranking out dark experimental electro. This stuff is haunting and catchy simultaneously. With the addition of a new vocalist, Ewan Kelley, the music and lyrics suit each other very well. One of my favorite lines is from “Wealth of the Others”, claiming “Peace and harmony is just an illusion for you and me”. The EP is a joint release by Tigon Media, and Electric Fantastic Sound, based out of Sweden. Interesting Fact: “Antitype” was released on the 200th anniversary of Edgar Allen Poe’s birth. This music makes me want to drive around in a cemetery at 4:30 in the morning, searching for my love. There are 6 tracks on this release, and every one of them has gotten a lot of play in my speakers! Neurobash are a very mysterious group. The musical structure is atmospheric, mixed with dark pop and some great synth and drum programming. I am really digging the tracks “Grey Coma”, “Wealth of the others”, and the opening track “Nothing New”. These guys have a wide range of influences, including Bjork, Depeche Mode, and Peter Gabriel to name a few…If you are interested in anything in that category, and enjoy sinister electro-synth pop, Neurobash is for you.
