Put together in early 2008, this Argentinean project “Wraithverge” has created some wonderfully dark, yet soothing classical sounds like that of an old movie score. Taking you to the end of a foggy night, where the sounds of swords and valor have now seized and as the fog clears, and the sun begins to rise, the world is suddenly filled with a long forgotten light.
Influenced by concepts such as darkness, struggle, justice and victory, this album will lift you to immeasurable heights of wonder and fascination, yet may also humble you. A great selection to add to any classical collection. With its renaissance-like style and its wordless fable telling, you will definitely take a far away journey into ancient history. A journey of vengeance for the pure and the defeat of the wicked.
Starting out with the first track, “Behold the Eyes of Wrath” you hear the presents of a darkness which seems to plague the air. Then, out of nowhere, you can actually feel the darkness flee like the sudden movement of a tornado as it crashes into a mountain and just disappears. But the memory of the dark still remains. Wreckage left behind reminds of not only what was, but also, creates thoughts of what may come.
The next track on this amazing journey back in time, “Awakening of the Implacable” now takes the story to a much happier place. A place where the sun fills everyday with beauty and wonder. Where life seems to have purpose and a feeling of accomplishment fills what once was filled with dread and despair. Wonderfully placed, this track in particular just has that certain quality that makes you feel like you’re given a second chance, a fresh start. A new life.
The third track to this tale, “No Mercy for the Wicked” leads you back to the place where the darkness had lived. The need it had to consume the world. It reminds yet again how very real and very threatening it had been. It also reminds of the battle that had been won and of all the other battles and struggles that had been suffered.
This album just may make you feel grateful for all you have and all that you have had to do to be where you are. Very much a lesson and a wake up call. A beautifully composed classical masterpiece that should be placed next to many of the greats.
