The latest release of the Cryonica Tanz compilation fire away with style when Nachtmahr pounds your head open with his great powernoise track “BoomBoomBoom” and when Ayria takes over after that with the cocky “The Gun Song” I’m simply amazed. Compilation albums tend to be a track quality rollercoaster, but in this case the qualities of the songs are actually great. Of course the fact that a compilation of 31 songs and all tracks are superb is as likely as I would burst into flames before finishing this review, but it’s still probably one of the best, if not the best, compilations I’ve ever heard.

Generally it’s Aggrotech or Powernoise on the menu, but some more old-school tracks from Orange Sector and Psyche is also included. Still you don’t feel that sway of genres compilations usually have, the songs fits together pretty well.

Cryonica Music has accomplished something rare with this compilation and if you are looking for some inspiration of artists you might not have heard before, Crynoica Tanz Vol 5 is your album (and no, I have not burst into flames yet, but I think I smell something smouldering).
