Icon of Coil keeps on gaining strength with each release. “Machines Are Us” seems to be a little more edgy this time around. The album keeps the listener alert with pounding beats, melodic synths and passionate vocals. I found this CD to have more pop elements within the song structures. There were many dance worthy songs especially “Shelter”, and “Existennce in Progress”. “Shelter”, really was the one that came out on top for this album. The band has used many different sounds within the song, and what really stood out was out they drowned out the heavy beats before a blast of danceable beats in the beginning of the song. During several of the songs the added robotic vocal effect was added which gave the title justice with “Machines Are Us”. “Dead Enough for Life”, was another powerful dance track that really showcased the sound of this album. The electronics felt amplified, and anthem big to make this a club hit. Icon of Coil is a band that you should never count out for a good delivery.
