ARTIST: Empty ALBUM: Open Aeon LABEL: Aphotic Audio REVIEWER: Matthew J. DATE: 8-6-07 Sydney, Australia's Empty offer up a tempting EP sure to please fans of darker, more atmospheric EBM. While it's hardly ambient music, this CD is better suited to listening at home than stomping the dance floor; "Ghost Beside You" opens things with moody processed vocals and brooding synthesizers, and while "Blue" features crunchy beats, the emphasis is more on wispy vocals than club rhythms. EBM DJs need not fret, however, since Angel Theory provides a hard-stomping EBM remix of "Blue" that's a bit more geared to the dance floor. This is good stuff, especially suited to fans of early Dismantled and Front Line Assembly; hopefully we'll get a full-length album from these guys sooner rather than later.
