“Philadelphia post punk veterans Stellarscope are a well-structured band, with the experience behind them to take on new directions and challenges whilst retaining the core of the output. They craft Psychedelia on to tightly constructed rock songs, which take them in to a completely new and unexpected direction. Their latest album titled 'The end is near, I'm not prepared' is scheduled for release in March 2014. On their new record their focus was to create more sonically charged fast paced ‎postpunk Indiepo ‎shoe gaze anthems that would appeal to a broader audience.

Their music has appeared in many compilations and tribute albums, documentaries as well as on MTV, A&E, Discovery Channel, Alli Sports TV, and more.

Album Review:

“I cannot find anything whatsoever to like about this album. The end is near, and I have to say I am prepared, for the biggest disappointment yet. Sorry guys, but listening to this is like extracting your own teeth with a rusty fork! You know it’s going to hurt a tad!”

Maybe it is just me, but not enjoying this at all. “Zero Gravity” is sung out of tune and the noise of fingers running over strings has started to annoy me somewhat. “The Machine must Die” musically is a fiery rampage but getting the feeling that shoe gaze is not for me. “Luxuria” is just monotonous and comes across as quite boring and tedious. “Make her Pay” – and I think they know just how to do it. “One Way Ticket” – I need to book it and get the hell outta here. “This will end tonight” – fingers crossed. “Friend for the End” – I don’t think so. “Hey you, Lets go” – and make it snappy. “It’s a Revelation” – I say more revolution. “Like tomorrow will never Come” – well it is an exceptionally long album L. “It finally happened” – I must have missed it somewhere along the line. “Zombie Stomp” – sounds like the last eleven tracks to me. “You never Learn” – obviously not. “Waste of Space” – yes it was a bit.

To Sum up:

As you can tell not my cup of Earl Grey for sure. It was very painful and tedious having to go through the tracks one by one. It all sounds very, very similar to the previous tracks apart from the first which was sung out of key. Amid all the distortion and reverb – or shoe gaze as they call it, there was nothing really to enjoy, and all I could think of was getting to the end of the fourteen tracks as quickly and painlessly as possible and actually survive the ordeal.

I am not usually this scathing but then again it is very mainstream and I am by no means a mainstreamer. So, this may well be the problem which is neither the bands fault nor mine as I am just telling it how I see it.
