A Place to Bury Strangers has come a long way in the last five years. After emerging from the belly of NY on a wave of static, they have cornered a unique sound that leaves you wondering what to listen to after such an experience on all senses. Onwards to the Wall is the fourth EP from the band, and they take on a mellow tone from the start. Where before it was all about blowing the ear drums to who-ever listen, now it's all about progression and crossing the boundaries of post punk glory and electronic grunge. “I Lost You,” documents a relationship gone wrong with a droning guitar chord accompanying the lyrics. “So far Away” lets the bass lead the way with the drums marching alongside like a step into a dark corridor. The title track to the EP seems to take a step back and not stand out as much as its earlier offerings. Onwards to the Wall sounds more like a demo or a sound check at one of their gigs “Luckily” it's follow up track “It'll be Alright” cans the mellow mood with an almost wild west theme It gives the feeling of a shoot out on horses with the sun going down behind them. The last track, titled “Drill it Up”, has an odd signature, making it hard to get into at first, but after a while you realize that you are going crazy to the beat and screaming against the static Like the title suggests, it makes you feel like you are stuck inside the film The Driller Killer.

In all, this EP isn't their best work, but then again I don't think the band can do any wrong. With a secure fan base and a grand scope ahead of them, this release shouldn't be your first taste of them, but a great addition to anyone who enjoys the unique experience that is A Place to Bury Strangers.
