Tori Amos has been one of my favorite sirens since the mid- nighties. As a fellow forty something red head and mother of an 11 year old as well, I fancy all that she does. Tori Amos takes a leap of faith on Night of Hunters by telling a story through classical/ethereal tunes. Tori uses music to describe the male parts of the story and her daughter Tash plays Anabelle. The album is stunningly beautiful from start to finish. Any one of the songs could be "Singles." Tori's choice to include her pre-teen daughter was a gem like idea and the apple does not fall far from the tree. Young Anabelle (played by Tash) teases Tori through the woods and elements with "Snowblind." Both voices are stellar and Tori's piano playing continues to accompany her flawless vocals."The Cactus Practice"is a medicinal/enticing playful tune of the relationship between Tori and Anabelle. This song is a dance that sends chills down my spine by it's partnership between the voices and classical leanings. This is clearly a Tori Amos album with her vivid lyrics and exceptional piano taking her sound a bit further with woodwind instruments to back up her lush sound. In the song, "The Chase" Tori tells story that based on 400 year old lore to create a vision of heartbreak where animals in the wilderness are chased out by hunters, lets say predators. "Carry", which is the first single and video from the album rounds out the tale with beautiful violins and Tori's voice at her strongest.
