ARTIST: From These Eyes ALBUM: Conflicts LABEL: Self-released REVIEWER: Matthew J. DATE: 9-2-09 Acoustic-oriented pop marred by soft synthesizers, sugary backing vocals, and too much auto-tune, this five-song EP is aimed at people who like their music quiet and non-threatening; if you're a fan of Train, Jason Mraz, or John Mayer, you may well like "Where We're Going," while "Not Worth My Time," despite being an attempt at an angry break-up song, is like a more boyish version of a Maroon Five outtake. Other than that, the best thing you can say about this release is that the drums and bass guitar on "Something in Nothing" and "Edge of the World" are pretty solid. Combining the most cloying aspects of modern soft rock arrangements and boy band vocal production, this is too saccharine to take in large doses; be grateful this CD clocks in at less than 20 minutes.
