CHICAGO, IL (NOVEMBER 23, 2011) - Seattle based, Sounds of Mass Production (a.k.a. SMP), have signed a new record deal with Chicago's WTII Records, LLC. Once described as Cyber-Punk, SMP are an industrial rock act with heavy influences in rap and punk. It's danceable, aggressive, and diverse.
Founded in 1992 by Jason Bazinet and Sean Ivy, SMP debuted in 1995 with the acclaimed break-out record, Stalemate. Three years later they followed up that album with their second release, Ultimatum, which spawned the bands first club hit, "Militia Love." 2000 and 2001 brought the release of Terminal and the remix companion, Hacked. Ivy then left the band and Bazinet continued on and enlisted the help of producer Wade Alin, (Chris Analogue/Atomica Project) to take things to the next level. The end result was SMP's most polished release to date, Crimes of the Future. In 2006, Bazinet put the band on brief hiatus only to return in 2007 with The Treatment and their latest release, Coda, which hit stores in 2010.
Over the years SMP's studio and live lineup have changed, but Bazinet continues to be SMP's primary songwriter, programmer, auxiliary drummer and vocalist. In addition to his work as SMP, Bazinet is also the current drummer for industrial acts 16Volt, Chemlab, and Front Line Assembly
Next year, SMP will make their WTII Records debut with the release of a (to be titled) full length album. Veteran producer Wade Alin will again produce and mix the album, while Mike Ostrander of the band 64K, has been brought in to assist Bazinet with the programming and writing.
We are excited about SMP joining the WTII Roster. We've been fans for years and we are looking forward to their new album in 2012.
