News Gothic & Industrial Band Music News Entertainment doesn’t make it easy on critics

When asked about what has influenced them, no band names come to mind;
Berlin during the Weimar Republic, cement walls, hallucinations or literary
figures such as Franz Kafka. And, in fact, it is this very claustrophobia
and the suggested absurdity which distinguished Kafka's work - also, one of
the main characteristics of Entertainment's sound design.
Founded in Atlanta, USA, the band has progressed from being merely an inside
tip to veritable greatness. Of course, the group finds direction from the
successful Gothic bands of the early 1980s, however, any parallels commonly
applied to the normal suspects such as Bauhaus or Virgin Prunes do not
really do justice to the band. The superficially distressing, awkward and
extremely complex songs contained in their debut album "Gender" initially
hamper a submersion in Entertainment's multi-layered cosmos as, despite
their name, the quartets' sounds far exceed the status of pure
entertainment.
The right listener is quicklyrewarded for his effort of entering this world:
from the subduing intro "Romance in a Rain" to the threatening cascades of
"Patroness" and right through to the cleansing storm in the finale "Flesh!",

this work, well coordinated to smallest detail, opens up more and more until
one finally can hardly live without "Gender".
The rebellious elements defragment in the head of the acoustic observer and
compose a large, dark, disturbing and yet infinitely stirring mosaic.

With only eight tracks, "Gender" follows on in the tradition of essential
Gothic masterpieces which have the same length as a good old vinyl LP;
however, in contrast, discloses its pure essence without any fillers and, in
years to come, will continue to find an echo in one's ears, heart and soul.
That's Entertainment!
