Cleveland based Goth/Industrial band Lestat will release their first full CD in over 15 years at Peabody’s Down Under (2045 E 21st St.) in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, April 14th, 2012. The release, entitled “Arisen”, will be the first featuring the new lineup for Lestat since their return two years ago. Original members Evan Nave (formerly Razz), Susan and Timothy return, along with the addition of War on bass and Scott on drums.
Also performing with Lestat will be Metropolis Records’ recording artists Ego Likeness, Cleveland based Shadow Saints and DJ Hav0c. The new release will be on sale the night of the show, along with all new merchandise. Tickets are $10 presale through Ticketweb.com, and $12 day of show.
Lestat resurfaced two years ago with their new lineup, having split up back in early 2000 for a various number of personal reasons. During their seperation, Evan Nave performed with local metal band PKS, while Timothy performed most notably with UV and Mercury Project.
Lestat were early pioneers of the Darkwave movement in music, taking traditional Goth and turning it on its head by basing most of the instruments on electronics, rather than electric and acoustic. They released three full length works, including “Theatre of the Vampires” (1990), “Grave Desires” (1991) and lastly “Vision of Sorrows (1994),which was distributed through Metropolis Records. The song “?” from that release was also featured on the Cleopatra Records “Goth Box” compilation.
Since their reunion, Lestat has spent all of their energy writing the new release, as well as touring the country over the past two years. They headlined Detroit, Columbus, Miami, New York, Chicago, and played a quick California tour, playing San Jose, Los Angeles, San Diego and Oakland. Later this year, they will be headlining the Age Of Decay festival in Jacksonville, Florida and playing the Anne Rice Vampire Lestat Fan Club’s Coven Ball in New Orleans, LA over Halloween weekend.
