Interviews Noise Interview- Whiteout
Band: Whiteout
Interviewer: Julie Johnson
Date: 4-03-6

whiteout is... "minimal-electro-noise-soundscapes" (you name it). whiteout is... just a way to express some emotions, thoughts and feelings (or something like that). whiteout is... going to grow in the future (or not, maybe, who knows). whiteout is... created with the minimum of technical equipment (as you can hear). GC: What is the name of your band and who are the current members?

p. : The project is called "whiteout" and I'm the only member.

GC: How did you become connected to make music?

p. : I was always connected with music,listening-wise,and after some years of writing, drawing and some photography I decided to get a new "outlet" via making music.

GC: What are your musical influences?

p. : there are many bands I like (from electronic- to guitar-based music) but I'm not sure if or what influence they have on my music.

GC: Tell us about your own unique style of music?

p. : Well,I call it "minimal-electro-noise-soundscapes". I can find no better explanation for it, besides the fact that it isn't necessary for me. let's simply say it's a mixture of ambient and noisy parts.

GC: What serparates your band from all the other bands out there?

As I said, I mix different sounds together and the main thing is that I have to like it. I don't focus on a track to fit into a specific part of the scene, maybe that's different to other bands.

GC: How do you go about writing songs?

p. : Well,if there's something inside of me that wants to get out, I sit down and just letting it go. Mostly,I have an idea of what the new track could sound like.but mostly, the finished result appears to be completely different.

GC: How do you promote your music, and is it working?

p. : It's mainly via that myspace-thingy.I think it's a good way to get in touch with people who could like my stuff.

GC: How are people currently reacting to your music?

p. : Better than I thought, surprisingly. You know,I started whiteout just for myself, but I received some good feedback from friends of mine. out of that,I decided to let whiteout go into public and the reactions are quite positive.

GC: How do you keep changing your music from album to album or plan to change it?

p. : I'm not sure about that.If the new stuff comes up to be different than what I did before,it's ok. If not,it's ok with me. I'm not planning on it.

GC: Are you with a label working on finding one if so.. how are is it to be accepting or what was it like being accepted?

p. : If there's a label out there which wants to publish my stuff, let me know.

GC: Remixes? Do you have any or working on any?

p. : Yep,just have a look at my myspace-profile or the webpage. All information on the remixes is there to find.

GC: Feel free to do any shameless self promotion here of you band, now is your turn to talk about anything you want about your band, ideas, or life in the band

p. : Whiteout is... not made to be liked by you (if you like it,you're welcome).
