Interview- Scream Silence

Ladies and Gents... I, Zeph, have the great pleasure of introducing the powerhouse that is Scream Silence. Enjoy!

Zeph: How did you come up with the name of your band, Scream Silence? Who are the current members of the band?  When was Scream Silence formed and what inspired you to create the band and, tell us about your unique style of music and who are your major influences?

Hardy: Scream Silence – a Metaphor for music, loud and powerful but also quiet and dynamic …

The Band, founded in 1998 has undergo many changes in 10 years bandage … so we had changed the bass player and the guitarist two times … mostly because of some private changes. But finally we´re a strong team with Heiko Wolf(Drumming), Robert Klausch and Rene Gödde on 6 strings, Hagen Schneevoigt on 5 strings and me Hardy Fieting Voices, Keys and Production. Since 1995 I worked in a little studio and I produced many bands from the darker and metal scene, and i was the live technician of bands like the legendary Dreadful Shadows. In this time was growing the thoughts for an own band project and scream silence was born. Well, the main concern for making music, or any other kind of art shall be the needfor expression, to draw a picture of your own inner minds, your experiences and      intensions. Everyone has this need inside, but anyone has find out by himself what's the best tool for submitting. For me and the rest of the band, Scream Silence is the ideal playground for our expressions and we always try to find a concept, when we starting a new album. Sometimes influenced by the 80’s sometimes by well known metal and gothic Heroes, but mostly by ourselves.

Zeph: What sort of equipment do you use in the making of your music?

Hardy: Any kind of metal, gothic and popular gear, who the song is calling for ;-) the main thing is – therein is harboured spirit and life!

Zeph: Does Scream Silence play live? If so what are your favorite venues? If not then do you plan to do so in the future?

What has been your biggest challenge with Scream Silence thus far?

What are some of the highlights of Scream Silence and what are your goals for the future... such as where do you hope to be with Scream Silence 5 years from now?

Are you currently working on or planning any new releases?

Hardy: There were many great Moments. But we always remember a great one when we performed on a polish gothic festival. We played our last song “Elegy” in the twilight and from that castle stage you could see the mountains far away, and then the thousands eyes...we really had goose-bumps on our bodies while playing that song...an absolutely breathtaking moment. Or another festival in Lithuania, where we was headliner. And during a electrical power outage we was very surprised that the first ten rows was went on singing the song further. These are just some great moments. At present we are chuffed about the upcoming European wide tour together with Tiamat and The 69 Eyes. I don’t Know where we are in five years.

The new Album “Apathology” is even released and crazy as we are  we’re already in work for some new songs .. so I guess in five years we’re in work for our 10’th Album ;-)

Zeph: What are your views on the current Goth/Rock scenes?

Hardy: A sleeping beauty more electronically than ever before ;-) but we will change it ;-)

Zeph: What are your views on collaborations and do you have any collaborations coming up?

Hardy: In the Past we had some meets with some another popular musician. In 2004 we met Adam Pearson (well known member of the legendary Sisters Of Mercy) in a club in Berlin, before a festival we should play, and there was just the idea to play some notes together, but we knew, that no musician of the sisters would play in other bands. But 2 days before the Festival at Raben, he was there. We made a longer rehearsal, and the next day we did it together on Stage. it was an great honour for us! It is nothing planned at present … such things must be happen not be planned ;-)

Zeph: How long have you been in the music industry and how has it changed over time? Where do you typically get your inspiration for songs?

Hardy: Every member of the band has his own preferences they listening to. Where me is loving the “real” gothic bands, Hagen is influenced of Scandinavian metal, Robert prefer listening to a lot of alternative and progressive music, Wolfi, our drummer likes more thrash metal and stoner stuff and Rene came from the doom corner. So we got a lot of additional influence from totally different music styles. That is, i suppose the best premises for creating a new kind of gothic music and it’s helping us to create our songs.

Zeph:  If there were one thing you could change about the music industry today what would it be?

Hardy:  Ahaha … all J we try it by founding of our own record label in 2005. But it is hard for a small Indie like us.

Zeph: How do you feel about the issue of people downloading music and sharing music on the internet?

Hardy: Today the Internet is one of the best Ways to promote our Music and get in Touch with other Musicians and Friends. You can reach People all over the World if you want. A bad thing is the illegal downloading possibility .. that really kills new band projects before they had a chance to grow. You want to listen music for free? just surf on myspace, lastFM or youtube …, however, there is a lot of music for free and if you like it just buy the one or the other album … its really simple … and you will save your favorite music for the future! ;-)

Zeph: How is Scream Silence being received by the public? Has the response been good?

Hardy: Sure mostly good till euphoric J but also we polarise sometimes, and that’s good.

Sometimes it is better to receive some good critic written from the heart, than some kind of "every day honey" around my mouth ;-) 

Zeph: Have you ever played or do you have any plans to play the U.S.?

Hardy: We have signed a licence contract for Mexico and North America in these days, so we look forward to be in the near of you soon.
