electric4

A true undiscovered gem of EBM, Electric Breathing are known for their unorthodox sequencing and un-compromising aggression. They have just released their fourth full length album Sweet Violence which in it’s own is a direct attack on the world’s power hungry fascist society. Grave Concerns E-zine got chance to catch up with Miak from Electric Breathing and here is how it went.

GC: Thank you so much for giving Grave Concerns Ezine this interview, can you tell our readers a little bit about yourself?

Electric Breathing - Hey, sure. My name is Maik, I’m 26 years old and living in Goettingen, Germany. I am the bitch for everything in Electric Breathing ;)

GC: You are known for your unorthodox sequencing and un-compromising aggression when did this style start to appear in your music and what was it about it that would become your signature?

Electric Breathing - Aggressions are my drive throughout my whole life. I know its sounds unhealthy but it helps me to stand up and work and breath. I'm always under current and love to hear fast and aggression music. I started making music when I was 10 when I got a keyboard as a birthday gift. I started creating mostly black metal stuff. So fast and aggressive Music was my thing all the time ;)

GC: The main theme of Sweet Violence is the world and its political agenda, what subjects specifically do you cover on Sweet Violence?

Electric Breathing - Our double moral standard god and government society with their brainwashing media and profit horny fascism.

GC: Sweet Violence is the first of your albums that has actually been available as a CD, so why have you limited it to just 50 on CD?

Electric Breathing - That was the idea of my label ;) and I was OK with that. I’m not very interested in selling my music but somehow it shows also if people enjoy what I make.

GC : You have been described as one of EBM’s undiscovered treasures and for any discerning EBM fan that hasn’t heard you when they hear your music they are instantly hooked by your sound. What do you think it is about your sound that is so good yet so addictive?

Electric Breathing - Addictive? That is the first time I have heard this ha ha. I can speculate only, its the driving beats what gives you an adrenaline kick.

GC : As a person what do you feel your strengths and weaknesses?

Electric Breathing - Strengths: creativity in all conceivable areas. Weaknesses: impatient and lazy :D

GC : How do you feel you have evolved musically since the release of Blood Flavour?

Electric Breathing - I'm experimenting more, got better with the arrangements and getting a little more patience while making music.

GC : No soon is an album out that its on the internet for download on some website, if you could face someone who has put one of your albums on a download site then what would you say to them?

Electric Breathing - He needs to spend me at least one beer and I would ask him "Was it worth it?" ;)

GC : I have seen a lot of people quote their favourite song from Sweet Violence being one or another, the album is a sheer work of electronic art. Is there a song on the album that you are particularly proud of and if so why?

electric1

Electric Breathing - I really likes "Lords Prayer". Its very experimental and has a lot of changes in it. Also I'm proud of the lyrics :)

GC : When was the last time you cried and why did you cry?

Electric Breathing - Its about 8 years ago when my little dog died that I grew up with. I really love dogs.

GC : What is the first thing you notice about people?

Electric Breathing - The way they look at me I think, friendly or hostile.

GC : What’s your favourite smell?

Electric Breathing - Opium fragrance oil. I love it :D

GC : I remember that when I was a child most boys wanted to be a footballer or a train driver, when you were a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

Electric Breathing - It sound like a cliche but I wanted to be an coroner.

GC : Thank you so much for giving Grave Concerns Ezine this interview, is there anything you would like to add?

Electric Breathing - Thank you too!
